Upgrading to Stay Aligned With Our Mission
Last week I pointed out that we should be constantly “upgrading” our systems as the Scripture both instructs and implies so we don't limit the effectiveness of the timeless truth of the Gospel.
With technology, there's always a need for an upgrade. In the church, however, there's a tendency to build something we think will last forever. While truth never needs upgrading, the systems and forms in which it is presented need constant analysis, modification, and rebuilding.
Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 9:20-23 are worth noting: “To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”
Here are some questions for both church and business worlds that keep us aligned with our mission:
- Is what we are offering more in alignment with our needs or the needs of those we are attempting to impact?
- Does the way we communicate only make sense to us or do we use language that connects with our “customer?"
- How can we make our transformative products and services so appealing that no one wants to miss out on them?
